KNDWPN Launches Cohort Training to Empower Deaf Girls and Young Women
The Kenya National Deaf Women Peace Network (KNDWPN) held its first cohort training on 17 October 2026, marking an important milestone in its commitment to empowering Deaf girls and young women with knowledge, skills, and confidence to exercise their rights and participate meaningfully in society.
Through this initiative, KNDWPN aims to reach 75 Deaf girls and young women aged 18–35 by the end of 2026. The training focuses on five key areas that affect their safety, well-being, personal development, and leadership:
- Mental Health: Promoting emotional well-being, self-awareness, and healthy coping strategies.
- Gender-Based Violence (GBV): Strengthening awareness of gender-based violence, prevention, available support, and access to justice.
- Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR): Equipping participants with knowledge to make informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health and rights.
- Digital Safety: Building awareness and practical skills to navigate digital spaces safely and respond to online harassment, cyberbullying, and other forms of technology-facilitated abuse.
- Leadership: Strengthening confidence, self-advocacy, decision-making, and meaningful participation in community and public life.
KNDWPN recognizes that Deaf girls and young women can face additional barriers to accessing information, services, protection, and leadership opportunities. By promoting accessible and inclusive learning, the organization seeks to ensure that Deaf girls and young women are informed, empowered, and better equipped to advocate for themselves and their communities.
The cohort training is part of KNDWPN's broader commitment to advancing the rights, dignity, safety, and inclusion of Deaf women and girls.
Our goal is clear: to reach 75 Deaf girls and young women by the end of 2026, equipping them with knowledge and skills to make informed decisions, stay safer, and lead with confidence.
